writing & submitting Journal Paper...fire-n-forget???

Is writing and submitting a Journal Paper somewhat like a fire-and-forget mission?

First, write the Journal Paper. Forward to co-authors. Wandering whether they agree, disagree, what to change, what's their comments. Wandering how big the change will be, if required.

Second, submit the Journal Paper. Wait for the journal to accept, reject, comment, request for resubmission. Edit and re-submit. Then, wait for it to be published.

Wait...Wait...Wait.
Sounds like fire-and-forget...referring to heat-seaking missiles and sonar-guided torpedos.
Need to have that attitude....fire n forget.
Don't think about it.

Opposite to that is:
Radar-guided missiles.
Once fired, its flight path is continually guided by radar, sometimes plus satellite.

Follow up or Not? Fire-n-Forget or Guide/Monitor?
